UPT-BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) University of Muhammadiyah Malang has carried out BIPA Institutional Management Training activities. The activity was held for two days on December 13th up to 14th, 2021 and was attended by participants from several representatives of universities in East Java. There were representatives from Universitas Merdeka Malang, State University of Malang, and Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya. On the other hand, some of the representatives were not only from Java Island but they also came from South Sulawesi. In this training activities, various aspects related to BIPA institutional management were carried out in the context of strengthening the implementing agency for the BIPA process.
Dr. Arif Budi Wurianto, M.Si. as the head of UPT-BIPA UMM emphasized that the purpose of the training was as a concrete effort to show that the process of language internationalization requires a strategy in its implementation. The strategy includes political and learning process strategies. Therefore, this aspect of institutional management must be taken seriously. So far, there are many institutions that carry out training related to BIPA, but most of those training only focused on the learning process. According to Arif, the internationalization process involved big things. The internationalization process that will be implemented by the institution includes planning, program, governance, program actualization, and quality control. In this case, the learning process is in the unit of the program that is planned and implemented. Arif states that BIPA Institutional Management Training is very important so that institutions will know how to integrate the circulation of foreign policy strategies with the language learning process. Since talking about language internationalization, we automatically have to know and understand how foreign policy is in Indonesia. Thus, the implementation of the BIPA process will be more complete.
